Can a regular PCP prescribe Subutex?

Question:
I am pretty sure that I was told by an addiction clinic that a regular PCP can not prescribe Suboxone unless they are licenced or something, but a regular old everyday PCP can prescribe Subutex? I have been on a lot of pain meds for back pain and when I dont take them I have a lot of withdrawls. I would like to get off of them and doing some calling and internet searching I saw that Subutex and Suboxone can help. I dont have insurance right now and cant afford to go to outpatient treatment. I was just wondering if my regular doc can prescribe Subutex to me and tell me how to take it. Anyone know if thats possible?

Answers:
I personally have taken suboxone for opiate withdrawal and it is a wonder drug, if you can find a doctor that is allowed to prescribe it. I heard that it is still considered an experimental drug in the United State, and the doctors that have a license to prescribe it, can only prescribe it to thirty patients at a time. So you might wanna call around town. I'm sure you would be able to find a free program through social services to help you detox if you explain your circumstances. good luck. and feel free to email me if you have any other questions. oh yea, my email address is Ronnie8905@yahoo.com
no they have to take a short course. and get a paper allowing them to give it to you. Ask you doc, he may have taken the course.
You can email me through my profile if you want.
I have been through the treatment and I researched it and found out all the information on my own about Subutex and Suboxone.
Any doctor may take class explaining how to dispense and monitor the taking of Subutex. You have to take 4 of the 8mg Subutex, 4 x a day for a few days and then drop down to 3 a day and stay there for a week or two and then 2 and a half and so on.
Suboxone is only for addicts who chop up oxycointin and inject it. It will make them sick if they do.
You want the Subutex brand. It costs about $8 a pill but if you have no insurance you can go online to a csite called http://www.rxcdrugcard.com and it costs only a few bucks and will cut your cost almost in half.
Subutex can be taken for up to a year or you can taper off of it quickly if it is too expensive.
You can take Subutex and the very first day you are not sick at all. YOu may be a little shakey, but no digestion sickness, depression or withdrawl sickness at all.
You have to get it even if it costs too much. it really works and there no other way.
There are sites that list or will find doctors who can subscribe it.
Many doctors can subscribe today, but a few years ago when I was just learning about it, you had to fly to another state sometimes to find one.
Email me and I will help you. I think I know pretty much everything there is to know about it and taking it to get off the vicodin and oxycontin.
my direct email is ds949494@verizon.net
and I can help you find someone in your area or answer your questions without having to go on here.
