Nervous about going to see doctor?
Question:
Answers:
Remind yourself that the doctor is not going to hurt you. They are simply going to ask you a few questions and check your health.
If you are afraid of hearing something bad, which accounts for a lot of people's anxieties about doctors, isn't it better to know if something is wrong, and get it treated, than to never find out and then end up horribly ill in the hospital some day in the near future?
Well that always happens to me too and what always works for me is to just think positive.Take your Ipod/mp3/cd player and listen to your favorite songs. Also you can take your fave magazine and read it. Another thing is to not think about it. When i go i am super nervous but when i dont think about it or read or listen to music i completely forget and everything goes alright.
*and if you are going to get a shot or blood work i suggest you take a jacket to sqeeze and dont look at it when the nurse is injecting no matter how curious you are.
good luck
You are not alone! I used to feel the same way. I got over it by realizing that if he does anything that I don't like ,I can ALWAYS get up and leave. Walking into a doctors office does not obligate you in any way to take his advise or even stay there if you don't want to. After all, he is providing a service and if you are uncomfortable, you can leave. You have the power here, not him. Embrace your power and your fears will disappear!
Hope this helped.
you would have to go to the doctor to get the ativan but it would work. I take it for anxiety.
remind yourself you are in a safe place, and the person taking care of you went to school for MANY years and they are experienced and know what they are doing...but, you are not alone! I am the same way
talk with your doctor about your concerns. I am a chiropractor, and have had my share of patients over the years really nervous about their visits. Once they talked to me about it, and I took the time to sit with them and address their concerns, things got a whole lot better for them. Sometimes addressing your concerns with the people or situation that is adversely effecting you directly is all that it takes. If the doctor won't find the time to speak with you about it, then find one who will.As a side note, caffeine, especially coffee will make your situation much worse. Make sure you are exercising regularly to work off any extra stress or anxiety and see how you do. Visualize yourself having a good experience may also be of some benefit. Good luck
