How can you tell if your ankles fractured?
Question:
Answers:
There is no way to tell for sure without an x-ray if it's fractured. Usually there is a lot of swelling, and there is bruising when it's broken, but it also can happen with a sprain so you should see your doctor. You may need a cast if it's broken, or a walking cast, but if it's sprained you may only need a wrap or a brace to help with rehabilitation. You should see your doctor asap! Good luck!
i think you need to see doc
well, I broke my ankle a few months ago. Actually, it was the day before saint Patrick's day. lol. If you have ever had a sprain or your ankle twist, breaking it feels WAY worse. Everyone I talked to thought it was a sprain at first, even the doctor, but I knew it was broken because of the intense pain. And guess what? It was broken! You might have broken it, especially if you heard a Crack! dang... But you should go to a doctor if it really hurts to walk on and R.I.C.E. isnt working (that is Rest. Ice. Compression. Elevation.) Also, the pain of a fracture stays the same intensity for longer than a sprain would. feel better!
Oh and a doctor would be the one to tell you if you need a cast, or a boot, or whatever!
