I have this sharp pain on the left side of my body, about 3 inches above the hip.?

I don't know what it is, but it's been hurting for three days and it won't go away, it's getting worse though.

We might need some more information. For instance is it more on the front or back. Have you been having any trouble with bowel movements? If so you could be constipated or having trouble with gas. 3 inches above your hip is about the same level as your floating ribs. Have you whacked your ribs lately? There's a small chance it could be kidney related. Can you give some more information?
