i was overweight and had leg numbness and a bad back, but when i started losing weight it all went away.
I think you should go to the doctor. Do not go online and try and diagnose yourself because then you will just get freaked out. I don't know how overweight you are but it could be due to lack of blood circulation. I am sure you will be fine though.
When was the last time you were checked for Diabetes? Diabetes is the number one reason for death in America. There are a number of reasons you can become a diabetic. Numbness in the arms and legs are a warning sign. Of course there could be other reasons but you really should consult a professional. Don't take a chance that this will go away on its own because you are too young to lose an arm or leg. I hope everything turns out okay for you.
You should go to a doctor and tell them your symptoms. Depending on how overweight you are you might not have good circulation, and sometimes people can end up having diabetes. Check with your doctor and see if they can help you with a diet plan. Good Luck. Definitely don't ignore it.
If your trip to the doctor has ruled out diabetes (good answer J W!), see a chiropractor who is an "applied kinesiologist".

Arm and leg numbness can also be caused by nerve impingement, where one or more of your neck or back bones moves from its normal position and pinches on a sensory nerve. An applied kinesiologist will do muscle testing to see which bones are out of alignment, and can then set them right, again.
From what you have stated, and since you did so on Yahoo, I deduce that you spend a lot of time on the computer. Hours every day? Your symptoms sound like Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. It is something you need to see your physician about for testing. Non-surgical treatments have had some success, if it has not progressed. Once it gets to severe, surgery is the only option. I have had CTS surgery on both hands. You cant even tell by looking, and both were very successful. In my case, i waited six months before seeing a doctor, but had too when I couldnt sleep for the pain. The surgeon said it was one of the worst cases he had seen. It only gets worse, see your doctor. You also need to consider limiting computer use to no more than 2 hrs a day, if possible, and get some exercise. You are at an age where your body is developing into its set patterns of metabolism and fat cell count. If you continue as you are, expect to be obese by age 25.
