Most people lifting weights unknowingly do what is called a valsalva manuever. It is when you hold your breath to help lift. Don't do this.It causes a sudden spike and then a sudden drop in blood pressure. If you are at risk for heart attack or stroke, the valsalva manuever will instigate the attack or stroke. Also be sure to keep hydrated, as dehydration can cause the headache and other blood pressure problems.
Be sure to keep breathing as you lift. NO HOLD BREATH!
