I wonder how safe it would be to take oxycodone then hydrocodone. Has any one ever done this?

Question:
What was the result? My sister does both and I'm worried for her.

Answers:
I would be worried for your sister too...the main difference is that hydrocodone is less invasive then the oxycodone...hydrocodone is vicodin and oxycodone is percocet.they are a similar pain narcotic so the effect is the same.however the oxycodone is stronger then the vicodin...normally they aren't prescribed together because of how similar they are.i hate to jump to conclusions but i am assuming that she is using them for recreational purposes then she is going to start to build up a tolerance to them...however if she is using one for short term pain and one for long lasting pain than that is different...does the oxycodone have and apap after the prescription because then we could be talking about a different type of pain medication...if that's the case then she is taking something called oxycontin which the generic is oxycodone ER (extended release) then those two are typically prescribed together..the oxycodone ER is for long term pain and is released after time normally between 8-12 hours the other vicodin is for break through pain every 4-6 hours...like i said if this is the case then don't be worried...just becareful because such strong narcotics can upset the stomach and make your sister a little dizzy...
By "does" I am guessing you mean she is hooked on them - not taking them per a dcotor's orders. No - mixing those would not be a good thing. You should tell your parents or another responsible adult and get her some help.
you can go to drugs.com to find out what interactions they may have with each other
both are super powerful narcotic painkillers. Is she taking them for ligitimate pain, prescribed by a doctor?? Or is she using these as recreational drugs?

I know somone who got seriously addicted to these drugs, even under a doctor's care.

They are not good drugs to be using.
I take both everyday about 3 times a day. Mine are prescribed by a Dr. She should be just fine if the Dr gave them to her. If not then turn her in and get her some help.
yes they are strong drugs to have. You can get addicted if not monitored carefully. There is a difference between addicted and medically necessary to survive.
If she is taking them as prescribed, they are safe. They are different drugs, the Oxy is long acting and the hydro is short acting. That is why they are prescribed together. You take the long acting one for all day relief, and then the short acting one if you get break through pain. But it MUST be under a doctor's care and advice.
Does she do this all the time? Is it for pain? Or is she just abusing the drugs? You should talk with her and tell her that you are worried about her drug use. Using both the pain meds together can cause an overdose. She needs some help!
