Alright its another question about my knee.?
Question:
Answers:
Well its probably not broken b/c MRI's are done to determine soft tissue damage (such as cartilage) not usually to look for broken bones. If there is a tear in the meniscus (cartilage pads in the knee) then it will probably need to be repaired surgically and after surgery you will probably wear the same knee immobilizer that you currently have. You will probably wear it for 1-2 wks after the surgery and have to go through 4-8 wks of physical therapy.
if it is torn cartilage it may be your meniscus and it can be scoped, you could walk on crutches for a short time, if they repair it there will be a longer healing time, also probably use a leg brace, not a cast.
My anut had like a brace thing on her leg no cast
I had to have arthoscopic surgery when I tore a ligament and dislocated my patella. After the surgery, I had to wear a brace that was approximately the same length as my leg to prevent mobilization.
I have had several braces for my knee. Except for the first one the other two kept slipping down and did not support my knee. I have to go back to the doctor on Aug 6, 2007.
I have a choice of having shots in my knee, another brace or a total joint replacement.
The full one with a foot in it gave the best support, but it makes your foot larger and I could not get it in to my shoe.
I have joined an on-line group and from what I read even after replacement you can still have pain and trouble in bending your knee. Because of that I think I'll take the shot in the knee and get another brace.
On-line I have seen a brace that I think will work. It is an extended knee brace made by a company named Bloedso. This brace has 4 straps on it. One around the ankle so that it sits on top of your shoe. Another one just below the knee the third one is just above the knee and the last one is as high as a full brace is tall.
I hope this helps. Good luck and I hope you can get your knee fixed so that it doesn't hurt any more.
