Broken/Cracked/Fractured Rib?

Question:
I have considerable pain in my upper chest, under my right breast, from wrestling with a friend. I play a lot of golf and did not think this injury would interfere until yesterday when I was not physically able to swing the golf club with any strength. I am hoping it is a pulled muscle of sorts but fear that it is a cracked rib. I have lot's of golf coming up soon and know that it is unlikely I will be well before then. The pain is not totally unbearable as I am still able to go to work, however, breathing and coughing only produces a slight sharp pain in the chest. Not entirely convinced it is cracked, as I have heard that ribs are very painful. If they are cracked, I assume dairy (calcium, protein) is recommended? Thanks!

Answers:
see a doctor
You should definately see a doctor. They can take x-rays and make sure of what is wrong. Plus, if you did break or fracture your ribs, they can make sure it heals properly and there isnt any long term damage.
It sounds as if it is broken, especially since you have pain on inhalation. There is really nothing you can do for it, other than trying not to exasparate the rib.
In addition, you might want to take a pain reliver such as ibupropin
You need an xray to see if you have a break, and more importantly to make sure you don't have a punctured lung or pneumothorax. They can give you some pain medicine as well.
