Things to ease the pain after tonsill surgery?

Question:
my girlfriend had her tonsills taken out last week and the pain is unbearable.. Is there anything she can do to help with the pain?

Answers:
You need to contact her doctor and let him/her know how much pain she is in. I had my tonsils taken out 2 years ago and they prescribed my a liquid narcotic pain reliever.
I had my tonsills taken out and i recommend ice cream, mashed potatoes, oatmeal, anything soupy
aww i feel bad for her that sucks..ice cream...sherbert...popsicles.. soda...pretty much anything that is cold..i bet a cold smoothie would be great and easy with the straw...tell her to get better!
talk to a doctor. When i had my wisdom teeth removed i got a prescription for a narcotic painkiller that really helped me
I would eat slushies.
I'm 25 years old and I had this done 2 years ago. I feel her pain!! I had to refill my liquid Vicodin 3 times! Thats the only thing that helped and it didn't help much. Time is the only thing that will help and I drank lots of cold ice water and ice cream.
Jello, ice cream, any cold drinks to sip on. The cold can numb the throat for a little while. Hope she gets better soon..
vicodin
Lots of ibuprofen. You might try a cool pack on her throat. Make sure it's soft, though, and not hard like an ice pack or that will hurt her worse.
Pop sickles, ice cream, and pain pills,
If the pain persists much longer, she should see the doctor
all i can say.. is stock up on popsicles or anything COLD!
Good luck and hope she feels better soon!
cold & easy to swallow.
However, if having that much pain a week after, better call Dr
eat maaad jello and ice cream.
Sherbet, ice cream, ice chips, jello...pretty much anything cold to numb her throat and the softer the better. Hope she feels better soon.
I had my tonsils taken out and it does hurt. Just eat and drink things that are cold. It helped me some. Painkillers might work but i didn't try it. I don't think there's really much you can do, you just have to wait it out.
I had mine taken out not long ago. I ate popsicles and pudding. I also took Hydrocodone, I believe it was. It was a liquid medication for pain. Home Health also came and gave me shots which helped temporarily.
Get her 'popsicles' ... not by the 'brand name' but try to get 'real fruit juice' that has been frozen. The pain is actually 'topical' (on the surface) and ICE is the best pain reliever there is ... and 'frozen juice' is both HEALTHY and COLD ... and let her have AS MANY AS SHE WANTS, and don't make her 'eat' anything if she doesn't want it ... because she had her tonsils out with the 'surgery' done in her mouth, her 'taste buds' have been 'insulted' and are not able to 'tastes' foods the same way. They'll go back to 'normal' over time, but meanwhile, give her a good 'general vitamin' pill (with EXTREMELY COLD WATER, with ICE, to make it 'feel better' when it's being swallowed) and let her live on those 'pops' until the pain is lessened enough for her to 'feel safe' to try 'regular foods' ... then start her on 'mashed potatoes' made with salt, and gravy made with salt ... the 'salt' is also a 'pain killer' (although it 'hurts' while it's going down) ... and if you can get her to 'gargle' with salt water (use only ICY COLD water ... put the salt in warm water and cool it in the fridge, and add ice when you give it to her to gargle) she'll feel 'much better' that much sooner.
