Welllll...THAT would be the logical answer from a female, however, there are some males (all over 18) who don't see the need for support of any kind. USUALLY, jogging/running isn't something that we males would consider as a threat to our genitals. Trust me on this one, there are some who actually ENJOY the looseness and non-binding time under our running shorts. In fact Veronica, the very reason you're asking this is because you've seen some guys who obviously are NOT wearing anything BUT their running shorts (kind hard to miss, eh?)
I mean, obviously way back when there weren't athletic supporters and people in general didn't wear underwear, you could ask the same question...good thing NATURE has a way of making our outside plumbing pull in by itself when it feels that kind of pain or gets too cold. Have you ever taken a look at your boyfriend or hubby after a swim in a cold pool or lake (or bath?)? On the old "Seinfeld" sitcom, they did a whole episode around the subject of "shrinkage". The genitals, or more specifically, the penis contracts in like head of a scared turtle(how much depends on how cold it is) and the testicles are protected by the scrotum which also tighten up in reaction to either the cold or pain.
There's more of an issue about what material the fabric of the runners t-shirt is because as any serious runner knows, thr rubbing of a rough material on our nipples DOES cause them to BLEED. Now, if that doesn't sound painful.yikes!
I hope this helps some. OH...
Of course there will always be a certain amount of males who simply enjoy showing off their "goods" to the world...what can do? LOL!

That's why guys wear jock-straps/athletic cups. It holds the genitals close to the body and protects them. That's why we wear sports bras when we run. I know if I run and I don't have the right bra on, yes, it hurts like h***.
