I think your best bet is to be treated by an Orthopedic dr.
The only hting "right" the dr could do to prevent its progression is measure the curvature of the spine.
Chiropractic "manipulation" does not, imo, do much for spinal problems. Even a physical therapist is more educated about back problems than most chiropractors.
Go see the doc, and ask about physical therapy, medication, etc. You still have options. Sometimes you have to see 2 or 3 physical therapists before you find somebody you like. Which sucks, but there it it.
It will not fully correct your spine so that it's straight again, but it will usually help your pain. And since you're young, I would definitely look into some kind of treatment because scoliosis can progress in teenage years.
Leaving your spine the way it is and not getting treatment is not a good option. Orthopedic docs will brace or surgery but that is very expensive (maybe not for you but for your body) and does not have good overall results. If you want to fix your spine you need to go to a chiropractor that can determine where your body needs to be adjusted and where it may be compensating. If you want further info go to www.new-chiropractic-solutions... As far as how much an adjustment will cost depends on location, ins. coverage and the doctor you go to see. Physical therapy may make you feel better but it won't correct the underlying problem. Hence you will be worse off down the road.
Chiropractic medicine can't do much for scoliosis.
I tried it, wasted a lot of money, and it did not get any better... in fact, it caused a lot more pain.
How severe is your scoliosis? You could try a back brace, but if its moderate to severe, or if very painful, surgery might be necessary.
I had surgery 13 years ago for scoliosis, so if you have any questions, email me.
