Any advice on health care plans?
Question:
I'm looking over the details of these sixteen health care plans and I don't know where to begin!
I'm 24 and in good health. I don't go to the doctor more than a few times a year. I'm not on any medication.
So, what should I be looking for in a good health care plan? Are there any websites that can help me choose based on my needs? High deductible, low deductible? High co-pay, low co-pay? High out of pocket maximum, low out of pocket maximum?
Do you have any other advice that may be helpful?
Thanks.
Answers:
in all seriousness, have you talked to your parents? they know you and your financial situation and might be able to better guide you. for myself, i always chose the plan that had the lowest deductable and lowest copays... i did that when i also had been healthy... thank goodness, 3 months later i got very, very, sick. with health insurance i have always gotten the very best plan because i thought it was better to be safe than sorry. i don't regret that decision.
best wishes
You're company should have someone in their benefits department that can help you. Try asking your boss or someone in human resources who you can ask. They'll be able to recommend what plan is best for you.
