Can I break an Ambien sleeping pill in half? I've been doing it and I still get to sleep.?

Question:
But I heard on one of their ads that the outside coating is faster acting, then the inside of the pill is slower. I know that some pills should not be broken because of this difference betweeen the inside and the outside.

Answers:
You shouldn't alter the sustained release form of medications (SR, XR, XL. . . ) because in doing so, you're putting yourself at risk for an overdose of the medicine, and a decrease in duration.

If you're just taking regular Ambien (not Ambien XR) then sure, it's ok to break it in half. People do stuff like that all the time . . . if you change the dosage, though -- make sure to talk to your doctor or pharmacist about it.
yes... but check with your doctor first
well if you break it in half...then you still get the outside and inside...so...it's all good...
