Why is my ankle still swollen?

Question:
So I fractured my ankle and tore a ligament a while ago and had a cast on for 6 weeks, and i got the cast off about a month ago and when i got it off it was still a little swollen but now i can walk and stuff but if i walk for a long time it will hurt and i still have to limp a little but its still swollen why is that? and is this normal? and when should i expect it to go away?

Answers:
You should probably call your dr. It might be a circulation problem, if your body is unable to process or flush out the fluid that's causing the swelling then it's not able to go away. Sometimes with injuries like this there is prolonged swelling, but not usually that long and not when you're asymptomatic
ya i think your leg was kept in that cast for a while and it can't get used to not having it on anymore. Your circulation will be a bit off, which could be the source of the swelling. It's part of the healing process. But see your doctor just to make sure. Feel better! <3
By fracturing your ankle you have damaged some tissue, that is ligaments. They haven't been used while you were in plaster, so this is something new for them to be used and so they will swell a bit. It should get better with more use but I suggest you keep your foot elevated when you aren't using it to reduce the swelling.
When it will go away is hard to answer as only approximations can be given, nothing is definite.
