Ok so last night was putting my top and out it popped.?
Question:
Doc is talking of pinning it. Has anyone ever had this done?
What does it involve?
Answers:
Hi there
I am quite surprised, that they are suggesting pinning your humerus (that is the bone that pops out of the sholder joint)
That procedure is NOT normally used for correcting a chronic shoulder luxation (recurrent luxation of the head of the humerus from the omoplatus cavity)..
The surgical procedure, is a "Putty -Platt" procedure or a suturing of the ligaments (two) situated in front of the joint, thus, preventing the head of the humerus from coming out of the little "sockett".
It would not be wise to pin it, since pinning is used for permanent inmobilization of a joint...(called arthroplasty)..
However, fixing a chronic recurrent luxation problem, normally does not require more that ligaments reconstruction..
Say...are you sure they said "Pinning".they mustt be mistaken, honestly..
I suggest you get a second opinion...
Medically, the country is going to the dogs (LOL)
Check it with another specialist...you need a serious second opinion...not a pinning,,
Yours truly
You definitely need something done. Pinning is done often enough. Its a reliable treatment for chronic dislocations, I know this much. As far as details, I believe it actually involves minor surgery to insert a surgical grade steel or titanium pin into the joint to reinforce it.
I really don't know much about this, but I wish you well. Let us know how you are feeling later hon. I am sorry that you are not well, but get better soon.
