I cannot fall asleep!?

Question:
Right after school ends for the summer, i automatically start falling asleep alot later than usual. Every night it seems to get later and later. Last night i went to bed at 4:30 AM. and i woke up at noon. Even though im getting enough hours, i don't like wasting my days away by sleeping. I've tried taking a hot bath and reading and all that stuff but nothing seems to work for me. I HATE that i can't fall asleep. Sometimes i get scared of things and that kind of makes me not want to fall asleep. And other times i just stay up all night thinking about all of my problems. and it sucks. Does anyone know of some things i could do to make it easier to fall asleep faster?

Answers:
chamomile tea helps me sometimes...

there are a number of natural sleep aids you can purchase at your local health store.
valerian root (stinky though)
gotu kola
kava kava

I take melatonin sometimes and that usually helps...

my doctor says that it's ok to take an antihistamine to help you sleep sometimes too. it won't hurt you and it's not addictive (like benedryl)

sweet dreams.

o! I almost forgot, if you can find it, it's called sleepy water.
they sell it in one of the grocery stores here and it works really well.
My friends and I had the same problem in our teens.

One friend told us that she would set herself a bedtime (say 11.00pm) and just force herself to get in bed, turn out the light and shut her eyes. Even if her mind started wandering and she felt the urge to turn on music or read or book or flip on the tv she would fight it. After a couple of days her body would comply and she would eventually get some control back of her sleeping habits.

So I tried her method and it worked for me too. Perhaps it will help you too. Good Luck!
omg the same thing happens to me thats why im on YouQA.com at 4 in the morning lol but i just go with the flow and i just go to sleep when i get tired i dont try to rush it cuz it seriously gives me a headache...
Dont allow yourself to sleep until noon. Even if you dont fall asleep until 4 am, get up at 8 am every day, and maintain an active day. You will find that you are tired at an earlier hour and your body will adjust to a better sleeping pattern. When you lay down, dont watch tv or have any other noise distractions. You could try white noise, like a fan on low setting.
