My nose!!?
Question:
Answers:
Don't do the whole head-back thing.
It's generally suggested by the uninformed. It's not advised because this can result in blood trickling back down the respiratory track and into the stomach.Could result in aspiration and/or vomiting.
Those are bad things.
Sit upright to reduce the blood pressure, and apply some pressure to the nose. Additionally, you can pack in some gauze in the nostrils. Some people chose to put petroleum jelly in the nose to reduce bleeding and moisture loss... but I generally recommend against it as it can seep down into the respiratory tract as well.
If it doesn't stop bleeding after, say, 30 minutes, you may have to be seen at a local clinic to have it cauterized.
Are you taking any blood thinners? Aspirin, ibuprophen, Advil, Aleve etc. Stop or cut way back. Lay on your back and press the side of your nose until it stops. Look for blood in urine.
Nose Bleeds are sometimes natural to people from when they were born... You might just be one of those people...
Don't go places where they have high air pressure like mountains...
I used to get nosebleeds almost every night. My nose was very sensitive to humidity, so when it was too dry, the blood vessels would break. I would then get an almost unstoppable nosebleed. These lasted for a long time. I finally got fed up with it, and saw my doctor. He suggested getting it cauterized. This isn't very fun. He applied some anesthetic to my nose, and put an instrument up my nose. This instrument was rather hot, and it permanently sealed the vessels. It didn't hurt, but felt kind of strange (like a giant finger up your nose). I haven't had a nosebleed since!
