Should I take a bandaid off if the blood has bonded to it?
Question:
I used some hydrogen peroxide, but i didn't want to put a band aid on it till it formed a scab. I waited quite literally 6 hours, but a scab still wouldn't form, the blood in the mid section of the abrasion was still wet even when i applied a fan to try to make it dry quicker.
Everyone has to sleep, so i put a big-ol' band aid on it. This morning i woke up, and pretty much as i expected, the blood from the abrasion had bonded with the band aid.
My question is whether or not it is best to leave the band-aid on, or pull it off and the healing skin with it?

Leaving a dressing (band-aid) on for long periods of time is a bad idea. It could get infected if you don't change it regularly. I would change it once a day or whenever it looks dirty/soaked. If you're having a problem clotting, medical attention might be needed. Your blood is not glue or paint. It won't 'dry' faster with a fan blowing on it. There is a complex series of activities that make clotting happen, requiring you to have platelets that work right. If you are taking aspirin and can stop taking it, that would be a good idea (not for people with heart problems). Aspirin is a blood thinner and might be making it harder for you to stop bleeding. If you are on blood thinners or diabetic, seeking medical attention is a good idea.
Take a shower and let it get soaked. Then it will come off without having to rip off your skin.
Don't yank it off! You're re-open the wound and probably cause permanent scarring. Wet the band-aid thoroughly, that'll make it come off easy.
Sometimes you just have to rip it of...like a bandaid. Or what else are you going to do, keep the bandaid on forever?
What you need to do is gently ease off the bandaid and let the Air dry it up and I am sure it will heal. Sorry about your boo-boo. Ask a love one to kiss it and make it feel better.
"...If a bandage is stuck to a scab, soak it in warm water to soften the scab and make the bandage easier to remove. If available, use a nonstick dressing..."
Get into the shower with the band-aid on and stay in there until the bandaid gets soggy.
Hopefully it detaches itself and you dont have to pull anything.
By pulling it off dry you are just going back to square one.
You should try Liquid Skin too. You put a thin layer of it on your wound and let it dry. It kinda smells like nail polish, but you dont have to worry about taking it off. It should fall off like a scab would.
Hope this helps!
