Bladder infection at age 10.answer quick plz?

Question:
my 10 year old sister was diagnosed with a bladder infection last week, she is on meds for it, but she STILL complains her stomach hurts, what can I do? this is happening AFTER the parents are sleeping, especally when I say " Time for you to go to bed" any suggestions?

Answers:
As a pediatrician- it is very unusual for a 10 year old to have a bladder infection. Likewise her abd pain may be from the antibiotics she is taking. You can try giving her some TUMS or Tylenol for the pain but she should go back to her doctors and have her urine rechecked.
bladder infection as in urinary tract infection? shouldnt be affecting the stomach..
I take it the meds arent working for the infection? I have some options for her to take which may stop the stomach ache. The first is URAL its a urinary alkalinizer, just put one sachet in half a glass of water and tell her to take about an hour before bed, if its really bad then 2 sachets is fine. Or cranberry juice. Just drink as much as you can all the time, this will prevent her bladder infection from getting any worse. And if it still hurts, recommend a second opinion when it comes down to her meds. Good Luck I hope this helps.
I'm sure the doctor already told her this, but she needs to drink lots and lots of water. It will help flush the toxins out of her system and the infection will clear up much faster.
I don't understand why "the parents" aren't involved in this problem. I think they should be. I would ask the doctor.
I am a medical transcriptionist and type on this kind of stuff all the time. She is getting bladder infections at such an early age because she does not probably wipe correctly, front to back, and she probably "holds it". You can use a heating pad when her stomach hurts and push fluids. If she only complains at night, it is just to keep from going to bed. My suggestion would be to "ignore" the complaints and she will eventually stop if they are getting no response. Be sure to have her follow up for a repeat urinalysis to assure resolution of her bladder infection.
Maybe she simply is being defiant or acting out and simply does not want to go to bed and using stomachache for excuse.
Have her drink cranberry juice. The real juice not cranberry juice cocktail. Have her drink three 6oz. glasses a day for three or four days. Then keep her on it for a week ,cut back to one glass a day. Dont let her have any soda pop, cut her off high suger drinks. .You might try orange juice, one glass a day. I have read that fresh parsley ,chopped up and added to food can also help. Keep her on the RX that the pillroller gave you.
