Lyrica, how long did it take for you to start noticing any decrease in pain?

Question:
I started taking Lyrica for sciatica and neuropathy (non-diabetic, pinched sciatic nerve) 4 days ago and so far it's not doing a thing, in fact my pain level is very near what it is when I need to go to the ER. So, how long does it generally take to start working? Thanks.

Answers:
Lyrica itself takes about 3 weeks to give you the relief it is intended. And is a wonderful drug!! I suffer from the same as you and have found the most relief from lyrica. However, it isn't the only thing that I take. I must have pain relievers as well. Especially while the nerve is still pinched
When you say pinched, do you mean by a disc? Because alot of times if a disc has ruptured into the sciatic nerve, the disc needs to be taken care of before any relief is found.
This type of condition is EXTREMELY painful and lyrica alone will never help it.
So, in answer, give the Lyrica some time, but if you are not on additional pain relievers with the state of your condition right now you should be.
I hope you get some relief from your pain soon,
it takes at least a month for you to start feeling the benefits of Lyrica. The dosage is usually increased after two weeks, so that it gets further into the body. Telephone your doctor and ask what dosage you should be on.
