I have a cold...why does your nose burn...?

Question:
How come your nose burns...when the mucose(sp?) is in there, and your nose is stuffed up, why do you have a burning sinsation?? Is there anyway to prevent this?

Answers:
There are a lot of different sensations one can experience during an over-active mucus membrane. Some people suffer from burning such as yourself, I often feel tingling. The best remedy to minimize these symptoms would be a typical decongestant, specifically for the sinuses such as Afrin nasal spray. Just don't use it in excess or it can really dry you out and cause sneezing and nose bleeds. Use as directed. You also may want to place a warm moist cloth over your nose, as the heat will help to break up the mucus.
blowing your nose a lot will cause this!
