How do I stop a cast from stinking?

Question:
My finace broke his hand 2 weeks ago. He had a cast on for the first week and then went to a orthopedic and he put a new cast on. It been about a week since he has had the new cast and its starting to smell really bad. He has to wear it for the next 3 weeks, maybe longer. Is there anything that he can do to keep it from smelling so bad?

Answers:
Cats smell bad? I've had several casts and they didn't smell bad...plaster or fiberglass casts can't really absorb bad smells...

Maybe your finace should see his doctor, something's not right there...
Ask them to learn their lines properly,
He can't get it wet!! Call the doc back, they really should have no problem replacing the cast and they can tell you what solutions you can use to prevent or fix and smells that may re-occur.
It is normal for a cast to smell bad, there is nothing you can do to make the smell go away. Ask your doctor about waterproof casting, there is usually an up charge of about 30 dollars that the insurance does not cover but its worth it.
The reason it smells is probably because he is sweating inside or dirt has gotten inside, and it has not been cleaned out. If he does not have water proof don't get it wet. That will cause the skin to mildew and become infected.
