Does anyone know how to safely unclog ears?
Question:
There is a lot of pressure in my ear from the liquid to the point where it causes pain and my hearing in that ear is obviously impaired. I can still hear, but it is extremely muffled.
Can anyone help me?
Answers:
I sounds like you need a decongestant. If you haven't yet, try something over the counter like Sudafed or Tylenol Sinus. The typmanic membrane is keeping you from getting the "stuff" out of your ear. It sounds like it is inner ear. Not outer ear. The peroxide would have worked if it was just wax.
The inner ear is drained by the eustachian tube and that must not be working correctly. So try the decongestant. AND then see a health care provider if not fixed
Exercise will help your ears to drain naturally. I'll admit it's kind of gross to be on the treadmill and have your ears secrete, but it's safe.
Don't put anything in your ear, ever. Leave it to your bathing and exercise to safely clean out the ear canal of cerumen.
It sounds like you have fluid trapped behind the ear drum. No amount of "unclogging" will fix that. A doctor will probably try antibiotics. You may also need to get your ears "tapped." That's where the pressure of the fluid is released.
If you truly have wax, or debris, stuck in your ear, getting your ears "candled" can really help. It's a hollow candle that, when lit, creates a suction in the ear canal. It doesn't hurt at all.
There are two things you can try. The first is to equalize the pressure in your ear as if you were diving.
Pinch your nose and try to blow through it. Then swallow. This usually moves some of the liquid around.
The other thing you can do is to get Afrin, or another nasal decongestant. Spray it in both nostrils, wait 15 minutes, then do it again. The first shot is for your nose and some sinuses, the second works more deeply in your eat.
If it lasts for more than four or five days, call your Dr. He may want to take a look.
Hydrogen Peroxide?! Never heard of that. Sounds like swimmer's ear. Try rubbing alcohol. It mixes with water and then evaporates in five minutes so you will not be putting more liquid in your ear. My husband did this all the time as a swimmer in high school.
Plus it works instantly (five minutes). If nothing happens then go to the doctor. A few days with water in your ear is not good.
My friend used this thing he got from a natural herbal you know that type of store. I was like a 1 ft candle or something. you tilt your head and set it in your ear and burn it nothing falls in your ear though. Anyways he had alot of problems with his ears and said that really really worked. Sounds weird. But you should check it out.
