Do I have a concussion?
Question:
Answers:
Sounds like it might be a light concussion.
I got one of those when I went down my driveway in an office chair and a wheel broke and i feel over and smacked my head in the back.
A light concussion won't kill you, but if it was a heavy one, there could be a lot of bleeding in the brain. I'd see a doctor to be safe.
How are you typing?
And you've found time to come on Y!A and do all this asking, typing.! I think your health should come more of priority than chatting with us on this forum.
No, it sounds like you just got a good bump on the noggin. If you had a concussion you'd have difficulty focussing your eyesight, keeping your balance, etc. Just keep it iced and you'll be fine in a day or two (and at least you know not to do it again)
if it is a concussion, its ok to sleep, and you cant die from it, just take it easy it will go away on its own
Probably not. A classic concussion is associated with losing consciousness. Less severe forms are associated with altered consciousness. Your swelling is a result of the acute inflammation and ice is an appropriate treatment. I expect the worst is over.
A concussion per se will not kill you, but the events that may follow a head injury can be serious. The biggest thing to worry about is unrecognized bleeding. The symptoms include headache, nausea, neck stiffness, and vision changes. See the link below for more information.
I am a physician.

Symptoms for a concussion:
Headache
Nausea
Balance problems or dizziness
Double or fuzzy vision
Sensitivity to light or noise
Feeling sluggish
Feeling foggy or groggy
Concentration or memory problems
Confusion
Sleep can also be a symptom but that is usually a problem with toddlers, but adults can complain of extreme fatigue.
Concussions are not life threatning but having too many following each other stresses the brain and nerves and can produce premanent brain injury. Don't worry your case does not seem like a concussion problem. You probably don't feel well because of the pain( the egg on your head is due to the highly vascularized tissues so no worries there) augmented by the emotional stress of thinking that something might have happened. Besides you were in a pool so your hed did not take the full impact of the blow and the diving board had a high surface area so a an acute blow would not be possible. Dont worry and just take it easy.
