I take ibuprofen as soon as I start and continue every 4 to 6 hours for the first day, You may bleed heavy but it is worth getting rid of the pain.
Lie on your side and wiggle you toes togeather for as long as you can - even when it feels like your toes gonna fall off just keep doing it. I used to do this when I was a young teen and it worked for me.
If you buy some ICYHOT that should help, if not then take a very hot bath, hot as you can stand it.
I had THE best seats at a Padres game once, with all of my friends..

Suddenly I got huge cramps, and had to leave the stadium and go home.

My boyfriend at the time (Now husband.) got me a large glass of water, he kept saying, just drink water, etc.

I drank it, and by the time we reached our car, I was fine.

LOL!!

He has taught me that cramps are the muscle's way of asking for water. Pro athletes that get cramps use 'gatorade' or some way of putting water into their muscles as quick as possible.

The same thing for us women, we lose a lot of water, or don't drink enough, that cramps seem almost unbearable for us.

I will never underestimate him,,,,,or drinking water, again.
Move and stretch gently. I know all you feel like doing is curling into a ball with your pillow, but the more you move, the easier it is to get things moving elsewhere and that's one of the things that causes your cramps. Stretch your arms up over your head and stretch from side to side. Walk briskly or jog.
If you have really bad cramps every time, talk to your OB/GYN, there are medications that can help including birth control pills and medicine to thin your flow a bit. Good luck!!
there is a medicine called "anaprox". it's just about perect. and better than anything else anyone here has suggested. I just don't know if it would be available where you are.
forget that store-bought stuff, it's like candy.
