Spider bite?

Question:
Something strange happened last Thursday. I was at work for 10 hours, felt fine, but during my 45-minute ride home my muscles started to really ache and I started getting the chills. When I finally made it home I could barely move because of the aches and had a 101 fever. I took some asprin, which made the fever go down, and the pain was completely gone within about 36 hours. About 24 hours after my symptoms showed up, my husband noticed this thing on my shoulder. It looks like someone put a cigar out on my skin. It has a bit of a whitish center. Could this be a spider bite? Could spider bites make you have muscle aches, fever? I don't see any bite marks. It still really hurts, but I otherwise feel fine.

Answers:

If it is, you should see a doctor since you might need treatment to prevent an infection.
Sure it could have been a spider. But it could have been anything else and you had a severe reaction. I would go to the doctor for follow up just to be sure that you aren't harboring a secondary infection.
Go to the doctor! It could be a brown recluse spider bite and those are dangerous!
It sounds a lot like you have been bitten by a brown recluse spider. Please see the picture in the source file and tell me if it looks anything like the diagram for 18 hrs. If it does, please go to see your doctor. Brown recluse bites can turn necrotic (tissue death) and gangrenous. I do not mean to frighten you, but it is a serious matter.
It is very possibly a tick was the culprit. The ones that carry Lyme's disease are the size of a poppy seed. Your symptoms are indicative of Lyme's disease. See a physician at once! The longer it is left untreated, the more damage it can cause. It is one of the few viruses that can be treated with antibiotics. With Lyme's disease the symptoms can disappear, but the virus stays in the body and will come back to cause you much misery. Get tested today!
My sister got a spider bite last week. The spider was very small and it left a punture the size of a needle mark and it was bleeding too.She didn`t get any muscles aches but the wound hurt her so much.I think something else could of bite you.I think you should see a doctor.
There are spiders that cause flesh eating wounds the racluse i believe is one that can be extremely harmful, you should go to the doctor to get treated so that is doesnt get any worse as soon as you can, good luck
It seems to me you was bite by a tick a while ago and not spider. You pick up the Lyme's disease. You have typical rash of Lyme's disease call "bull eye" rash(whitish center) and Flu like symptoms;fever, muscle pain, chills, then you could have joint pain. You need to see a doctor and get antibiotic treatment as soon as possible, because if you miss the treatment at beginning then will change to sub acute and treatment will be more difficulty.Lab test may not conform the diagnosis because need some time the antibody be developed.Lyme disease is not due to virus infection is due to ingection of Bacterium Barrelia Burgdorfen and are sensitive to many antibiotic which including;vibramycin and amoxicillin.
It could be a spider bite. You should have a doctor look at it incase you are allergic to them.
SEE A DOCTOR ASAP!! There is a infection happening that looks like a spider bite, but really ends up as MRSA whcih is highly resitant to some antibiotics.
If it looks like tiny blisters it probably is a spider bite and you need to be seen by the doctor ASAP!
