When i run, even for a minute or so, my legs and thighs get REALLY sore!?
Question:
even if i do the 400 meter,
my legs start feeling sore and heavy
at the last 150 meters or so.
i run about 2 miles everyday.
(one in the morning one at night)
ususally on the treadmill
and EVERYTIME i run,
my legs and thighs start to break down after about 2 minutes.
and my upper body feels just fine...
i'm only 12, so what could it be?
i've just started to do some real
running everyday about 2 or 3 weeks ago
and i nedd better endurance too
it's not my weight
im on the thin side
and i'm also building up my muscels
...when i do squats,
my legs get tired with only 10,
but i still go on anyways
100 to 200 situps a day...
HELP!
what could it be?
i can't go on running like this!
it's not terrible pain,
but it slows me down like 5 minutes on my
mile time!
Answers:
maybe ur just tired? o.O
Often a lack of oxygen can make a muscle hurt when forcing it past it's normal use, or lactic acid build up after a certain point of straining. Bodybuilders call it a 'burn". No big deal. Just train in different ways to develop stronger leg muscles. Short burst sprints are great for 50 meters, then stop, count to ten, and do another, and do that until you can't - or just pick a certain amount you want to reach. Don't kill yourself though. Gotta have fun doing it. Just add more techniques. Ask that fast guy how he or she trains.maybe
Are you taking enough time to stretch out before you run?
If you feel pain with the squats you should stop and rest. It sounds like you may have pulled something. Maybe you should take a break and let things heal, or at least back off a little.
Are you stretching your muscles prior to the exercise. Even thin people who are relatively fit still need to do some warm up stretching so that they don't strain the muscles or pull them while running, etc. Plus, if you only just started running, the 2 miles might be too much too soon. Maybe you want to cut back to just one mile a day and see how you feel, if you can run that without too much pain, then gradually increase it every 3-4 days by one quarter mile until you're back at 2 again. Slow and steady increases will gain more than big leaps and bounds which could cause injury and set you back!
ok well I have the same problem and I have exersice induced athsma so that could be part of your problem. Or you could have low iron. I have low iron and I have this problem. Or it could also be low calcium.
Hi. When you say sore do you mean a burning of the skin, kind of sore, or maybe the kind of sore that you feel when you hit a body part on something and get a bruise, or the down deep muscle kind of sore, from the actual running ? Do you do stretches before and after you run ? If not you really should. Do you do any other excersizes before or after you run ? Have you ever done sets of excercises or stretching in opposites ? IOW, Do one bending one dirction, then do one in the opposite direction. Doing it that way really helps in keeping the pain away. And can't say enough good for stretching before and after running or anything else for that matter. Or... Is the pain the type where you're going past the "burn" each time ? The old "No pain. No gain" ? If thats the case there is a chance that you have, in the short time of running, been going past the point of burning a little too far. The absolute 1st. thing you should do after you reach that point is do some real slow and relaxed stretching, meanwhile breathing deep and slow into the stretch to relax your muscles and after doing that for a short duration , do the total opposite stretch the other direction. All of this should help but the main thing is ease into the extra distance or extra reps you do. Don't push yourself as much until you've conditioned yourself more, and that's just a matter of time. Good Luck
