Does anyone know anything about back pain?

Question:
I have a dull pain that is in my lower back to the right, almost under my buttock, I do a lot of driving and when I get out of the car it takes ages till i can walk completely upright. It's been there for about 6 weeks. Is there anything I can do to get rid of it? (I'm 37 )

Answers:
When you sit in a car, your posture is slumped and your low back rounded. This is a horrible position for people with low back pain, especially in long car rides. A quick fix I often recommend to my patients is to use a lumbar cushion or take a small towel and roll it up to fit right in the small of your low back. This helps to maintain the natural curvature of your spine, and takes some pressure off. This is a website you can obtain a lumbar roll at: http://www.nextag.com/lumbar-roll/search...
The towel seems to work pretty well too.

When you sit slumped for prolonged periods, the discs between your vertebrae slowly start to migrate backwards. If you have any weakness in the ligaments in your spine, the disc can start to bulge towards the weak side, and even start impinging nerves. This can cause the pain down into your butt, or even down your leg. Try and avoid slumped positioning.

I would also try regular exercise to improve overall muscle strength, especially deep abdominal muscles which can help to also take some of the load of your low back.
Back pain is among the most common medical conditions in the United States. Between 50 and 80 percent of all American adults suffer from back pain at some time, according to the Arthritis Foundation. It is the second most common neurological ailment in the United States, according to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. Only headaches are more common.

In some cases, back pain is acute, meaning it occurs suddenly and usually resolves within days or weeks. In other cases, back pain can be chronic, meaning that it is long-lasting.

it depeads sometimes a person can have back pain cause of the way they sleep or because something could be wrong but in Jesus name nothing is wrong with you just try on some icyhot if you still have doubts and concerns go to the doctor so they can check it out good luck and god bless!
You may have a bulging or herniated disk. See a doctor which most likely will send you to physical therapy. You also can take up to 800 ml of ibuprofen such as Advil for the inflammation every 4 to 6 hours. I have included a link with more info! Good luck! I am a proud owner of 3 bulging disks, and my husband has 3 herniated disks... so I'm feeling you!!
Karlos, I am going to advocate strongly for chiropractic. I have occasional back pain and my chiropractor clears it out in one visit. Other people will tell you other things, but the reason I prefer chiropractic over everything else is because it gets results I can feel and use the same day I go to see him. His adjustments work.
It's a muscle, and it hurts because your back is strained (lower back/hip area where you see a dimple on each side)
See a Chiropractor before you end up having your back freeze up on you!.God Bless..I am 53...and trust me on this one!
ice pack, not heating pads, try ibuprofen if they dont bother your gut.
As a fellow back pain sufferer, I can tell you that most (not all) lower back pain is muscular in nature, usually a muscle spasm. Your doctor may prescribe muscle relaxers, but before you make that appointment try some Non-Steroidal Anti Inflammatory drug like Motrin. I've gotten relief by using one of those vibrating pads that you place between your back and the chair when you sit down. Also, since you say the pain occurs when you drive, and given the location of the pain, I have a little trick that has worked wonders for me: take your wallet out of your back pocket while you drive. It's amazing how that eliminates lower back pain and butt cheek/sciatic pain. If i'm going to be in the car longer than thirty minutes, I put my wallet in the console. good luck!
my hubby too is a driver and he suffers with a herniated disk (that may be mispelt) he sees a physiotherapist when it gets too bad and he told him to put ice pack on for 10 mins then a hot one for 10mins, don't sit in the same position for more than 20 mins get up and move about, and to take ibuprofen when it gets too bad. normally after a visit to the physios he's normally feeling much better, if you go to the docs and he refers you to an NHS phsyio be prepared for a long wait to be seen followed by a lecture on lifting properly and loosing weight (major waste of your time) it pays to go private. good luck xx
Sounds like sciatica where a trapped and damaged spinal nerve is radiating pain to your lumbar area. Try anti-inflammatory PK's like Ibuprofen, avoid distalgesics which can cause liver damage if used in excess. Get used to lying on a hard mattress or even on the floor on your back. I had sciatica, it lasted 2 months and drugs, posture and sleeping on my back eventually cured me. Beware though of exerting yourself having taken palliative drugs- just because you don't feel the pain does not mean you could be doing further damage and delaying recovery
Yeah its one of the best excuses used to get a couple of weeks off work.Saves your holidays.
I am right there with you...

Yes I do, I had 5 back surgery, and going for my 6 on Aug 3,07
it sound like you have a herniated disc, you should get it check out. And get a MRI done on your back to make sure it is that.
well good luck.
It sound like you had a herniated disc and you should get it check out by a doctor, treatment options range from basic rest, ice, heat and medication, physical therapy help with the pain, driving to long with back pain is not good you are staying in one spot and not moving around, you should stop and get out and walk around and then start driving again that will help with the pain, and getting upright with less pain. Sitting and standing for a long time makes your back hurt when you have lower back pain.I have a very bad lower back and had 5 back surgery's. So go get a MRI done and get a doctor to check your back out to see what is wrong.
Good Luck!
this could be your posture! maybe you are not sitting correctly! when having a shower try cold water on the area! also dont drive as much! walking is better
