Do dead bodies bruise?
Question:
Answers:
Not as such, because there is no blood flow to pump the blood out into the tissues. however gravity causes pooling of the blood in the lowest areas, i.e. if the body is lain on its back, blood pools there. This is caused post mortem lividity and it looks like bruising.
No. Bruising is caused by bleeding into the tissue. When you are dead your heart stops beating and your blood stops flowing. You don't bleed, so you don't bruise.
I don't think they do, I only say this as when I went to the chapel of rest to see my nan she didn't have any bruises. They do apply a lot of make up though when they are resting.
No. Bruising is called by internal bleeds. When the body dies the heart stops working which stops the blood going around the body, so it would be impossible.
Not from the autopsy, but there is a thing called "lividity" which looks like bruising. The blood settles in the lowest areas beneath the dead person. Some of it can be visible as a bruised look, especially on the bony prominences.
Dead bodies don't bruise although some people mistake the purple and blue marks as bruises. This is where the blood settled after death.
Planning on desecrating some corpses and hoping there's no evidence left behind?
