Answers:
well i dont take ballet but i can assume that when you stand on ur tipitoes and then do all those things people can get injuries very often. most of the ballet consists of ur feet movement too
It's strain from overuse. You need to take care of it because it could get worse in time and cause you a lot of trouble. The people in charge of your ballet classes should know about this and be able to tell you how to care for the ankle to prevent further damage.
Try resting it, putting some ice on it when it hurts, strapping it up for extra support when practising your ballet and when you can sit with it elevated. See if this helps. Could be a minor sprain. Nothing to worry about.
Remember...
Rest
Ice
Compression
Elevation

If you stretch well before class, then the strain could be tied to overuse or it may be a sign you need additional support in the area through having an instructor taping it up properly. To be safe, you may want to have the legs checked out by a doctor in sports medicine.
You may not have warmed up properly. You may have some inflammation. You also could have strained or sprained a muscle or done some other damage.
Tell your mom or dad about it and ask about taking some ibuprofen for inflammation. If that doesn't help, you may need to make a trip to the doctor or ER to have it checked out to make sure you haven't done any damage. I would say to stay off of it and ice it down also. Don't go back to class if it is still hurting.
Do you like ballet? Have you been doing it long? If it is new, you probably didn't get warmed up enough. If it is something you have been doing a long time, it could be from overuse. You need to rest it, or this could turn into a permanent problem and you might not be able to be involved in ballet in the future. If the instructor ever tells you "no pain-no gain" get another instructor. That is wrong. There can be uncomfortable stretching, but when there is pain, something is wrong. You are not a professional, and life will go on if you take off a week and rest and allow your body to heal. If you force it, you could have permanent damage that could affect your walking and day to day living for the rest of your life.
Good luck.
Ice it & if that doesn't help see an orthopedist.
Discontinue ballet until situation resolves.
Make sure your stretching before you do your points - also ask your intructor if there is anything you can do to ease the pain!
It could be just muscle fatigue or mild sprain. You could have used an ice-pack immediately after the injury, but now,it's not going to do much good. Now you can apply a local pain killer ointment and give rest to the part for a few days, till the pain goes.
I've had ankle problems before so i know what your going through i guess. What i used to help my ankle is i used haldi. Haldi is an old indian cure for sore muscles and stuff like that. Look it up on yahoo or something and i'm sure you'll find out how to make it. Hope that helps.
