Cut from a dog bite?

Question:
I have a puncture wound on my wrist from a dog tooth.

So, it appears to be somehwhat infected - do I leave a bandage on or let it breath?

Answers:
Okay, assuming you know the dog and are certain that it doesn't have rabies..

Clean the wound with hydrogen peroxide, if it's scabbed over or partially healed, try and scrub some of that loose to really allow the peroxide to penetrate and disinfect the wound.

Dry the wound completely, and apply a light layer of antibiotic ointment like Neosporin, Bacitracin, or a triple antibioctic cream. Any of them will do.

Cover the wound with a waterproof bandage. Keep it covered and repeat the whole process above when you take a shower or get it really wet or dirty. It should heal fairly quickly if you keep it up. If you don't want to do all of that, at least keep it cleaned out with the peroxide.

If you didn't know the dog and you have no way of knowing if it had rabies or not..go to the doctor and get the shot series started. There is no cure for rabies and it is fatal within a few weeks. (The shots are no big deal now, it's no longer given in the stomach...just normal shots).
if u want u might want to put some disenfectent on it and put a new bandage on it and it would help alot
