Why couldn't they get any blood from me?

Question:
I went today to get some blood took for a chloresteral check and he could only get a couple of drops out of my veins. Why and what can I do to make sure next time they will be able to get more. I don't smoke. I don't do any kind of drugs. So why did this happen and what can I do to change the problem?

Answers:
If they couldn't get any blood it's likely because the person taking the blood didn't know what he/she was doing. I have really small veins and they always have trouble finding a good vein to get blood from me. Before your blood test, drink a lot of water. Dehydration makes it more difficult for them. Also, about 15 minutes before the blood test, place a warm towel or hot water bottle over your arms. The warmth helps to open your veins.

Hope that helps...
