Can an ice pack reduce the life of a cold sore?

Question:
I thouhgt ice would only work with blood swelling

Answers:
No. Cold sores are caused by a virus. There are creams you can buy to help with the symptoms, such as Abbreva (sp), but basically, you'll have to let them run their course, and try not to spead it to other people.
It might help but id doubt it. Your best bet is to go to your pharmacy and get some sort of cream. I know when I feel one coming on I just put Vaseline on it and before it comes to anything it goes away.
I have never heard of this. All that works for me is Valtrex,
L-lysine, some of the over the counter creams and time. I suppose that if you've been picking at it, or it has traumatic complications, it may help .
