I already have an injury wound on my leg from poor circulation which they also called cellulitis. It is normally red and has a scar from where it was open for the whole year of 05. Well yesterday this pallet that I was wrapping at work well the board was loose on it and was sticking out and it came around on the scale and it hit my leg where my wound is. Now it is open again! and it hurts again. Should I talk to them about workman's comp or will this cause me to lose my job because they would be mad and then be all pissed off at me for in the future knowing that I took workman's comp over this little incident. They told me I need to see a doctor cuz of it but they didn't tell me I could take workman's comp or anything but still I am just curious if maybe I can. I don't have insurance and I don't have alot of money.. what are my options?
Answers:
Were you released from your previous injury when that board hit you? Or were you working with an injury while still under a doctor's care? If you were not released and working and received another injury then that is not your company's fault. You shouldn't have been working to begin with. However, it's your company's responsibility to make sure you are released to full duties before resuming your job. If you were released back to full work duties then yes, ask your human resource dept. which doctor they want you to see and file a workman's comp. claim.
