How to relieve soreness?
Question:
also, if i go stretch right now, will it help soreness because it's losening your muscles?
Answers:
yea if you stretch now it will help with muscle soreness...when i was in high school i did swimming and softball my coach always told me to stretch before and after practice...however if you are sore now try taking a hot bath otherwise if your still sore and having trouble sleeping then try a Tylenol pm but make sure that you can get your 8 hours of rest so that you don't wake up groggy in the morning...and if none of that works try a cream like that icy-hot stuff it's suppose to work really well...good luck and i hope that some of this helps you with your muscle soreness..
jump in the jacuzzi like me
take a really "hot" bath..stay there for a while and you will feel better the next day.
stretching does help but the pain won't go away completely. The reason it hurts is because there are small tears in your muscles. When the muscles repair, they grow. So the only thing to do is to wait it out. or take pain killers.
One thing that works wonders is soaking in a warm Epsom salt bath. Then there are the many topical creams (i.e., icy hot, bengay, etc). But I would start with the Epsom salt, it's works better than anything I've tried.
take a very warm bath with epsom salt in it. Then take 2 or 3 ibuprofen. This will not make the soreness go away completly but it will make it much better.
Within the 1st 24-48 hours you can treat with heat, like a heating pad, or a hot pack. You can make a great hot pack out of a tube sock filled with regular rice (NOT minute rice!)...pop it in the microwave for a minute...stays warm for about an hour. Make sure that you keep checking the area when using heat, you can burn yourself easily. Limit the heat pack to about 15 to 20 minutes once an hour. Stretching can help, but nothing too intense, as that can be detrimental. After 24 hours, you can either altenate heat and cold packs or just use cold packs, about 20 minutes for each type, at least an hour apart. If you don't have an ice pack available, you can use a bag of frozen veggies or a baggie filled with crushed ice to conform to the sore area.Tylenol, Motrin or Aleve taken as directed can help too.
