My tail bone in is hurting anyone know what the cause could be?

I was the Marketing Director for a Chiropractor here in Houston for a while and it sounds like your sacrum has shifted posterior because of your sitting position. You will have to see a Chiropractor before the pain stops and it could take a few visits for the joint of the sacrum to be strong enough to hold permanently. Once you have visited a chiropractor remember be sure to sit on the bottom of you butt in the seat, with lumbar support every day - especially when sitting for a long period of time. They have lumbar pillows or you can just use a towel or a small pillow - if you don't have lumbar support you lower back will "C" curve out and push your sacrum posterior again. I would make an appointment immediately, b/c the sacrum is what stabilises your pelvis - if left too long your pelvis will shift and then you could experience severe pain and have to under go months of treatment to correct. DO NOT GO TO AN M.D. for this treatment - they can not help you properly - or they will scare you and mention surgery. Find a chiropractor - a good chiropractor will take x-rays of your spine and show you the exact problem. Insurance should cover it, if not set up a payment plan.

It is most likely from sitting.
It is caused by poor Ergonomics. It's a fancy word for all those rules of sitting at a computer with the keyboard and monitor at certain heights, etc. Just google it and you'll see what I mean.
I agree see a doctor, its the best course of action. Back in '05 I had a cyst right below my coccyx (tailbone) and it casued a lot of pain in that region, sitting was a problem becasue of it. I had also suggested to a friend later that year who was having similar irritations, that it may have been the same situation I had been in, turns out it was.
In regards to your tail bone being sore it sounds to me like you could have put a slight curve on it with sitting all day long especially if your not used to sitting for long periods of time.
This bone is basically the bottom of your spine and is made up of tiny discs and bone. If you sit too long one of these discs could have moved out of alignment and makes it sore to sit and also stand or lie down. Also check the position that you are sitting in and that you are sitting without a curve in your back as this can also cause lower back ache and try to stand and walk about as much as possible throughout your working day.
Regular exercise such as yoga or pilates should keep your back in good shape and try some accupunture, its great!
You may have a pilonital cyst...which can occur from all the sitting. You'd see a red bump where your tailbone ends. You may be able to clear it yourself w/warm baths, but you may want to head to doc's office if it gets worse...I had one once...it hurt because I ignored it for a while..this site has good info on it:

I would definitely have it checked out by a doctor. This could very well be a pilonidal cyst or abscess. Check out www.pilonidal.org for information. If the abscess is just starting the surgery is relatively minor. I had surgery on mine and the pain was completely gone within a month. However if you don't do anything about it for years you could wind up with extremely painful infections and/or a deep tunneling abscess that wraps around the tailbone. If you let it get that bad the surgery will be much more complicated and will take a long time to heal.
It could be a siatic nerve its in the lower part of your back but it make you feel like its you tail bone,it happens to me occationally,take you IB prophin
