This will not get better. The only things you can do is to treat the symptoms and take some medication, either prescribed or over the counter to try and stop it from getting any worse. Tablets such as glucosamine or osteo-eze work quite well. It is just a matter of finding which one works the best for you.
Try some of these links or for more, just type osteoarthritis into your Yahoo! search engine. Good luck.
E-mail me if you want some more specific information.

Give up dairy. I know many people who have improved their osteoarthritis by simply giving up dairy. Giving up animal protein is the next step. Try just giving up the dairy for one week and feel the immediate improvements.

I don't believe osteoarthritis ever gets better, although their is medicine that will help you deal withit better ,Boniva which is taken once a mounth. I do know one thing about any kind of arthrits that you should get up and move or else your joint will stiffen up,which makes it harder to move.I am 53 and have degenerative arthitis in my lower back and both knees an I too have to use a cane and at times I use my husbands walker, who also has arthrits and spinal stenosis he is 76.We both have been dealing with that darn old art for a long time and neither of us are getting better, but I am stubborn and will not let it slow me down even though it hurts like hell!! Good luck kiddo.
It won't get better and if you don't end up having a knee replacement which is what is needed, then you will have to put up with it and take pain relief or anti inflammatory drugs when required.
