Dalmane Found In URINE TEST?
Question:
Answers:
Well, to start off, I think it would be best to look at what the differences between Xanax (Alpralozam) and Dalmane (Flurazepam) are. Firstly, the two are both, as you are probably aware, belonging to the family of drugs called Benzodiazapines. These drugs act on the central nervous system to produce various levels of sedation and hypnosis. If you are currently taking Xanax, I can only presume it is part of some prescribed treatment of general anxiety disorder or something similar. Dalmane, a similar medication, is indicated for the patient who suffers from insomnia, basically acting as a strong sleeping pill. Basically the two medications have the same type of biochemical reaction in your body, but to varying degrees.
That all being said, because they are both benzodiazapines, it is expected that they are treated by the body in similar ways. What I mean by that is that when your body goes to get rid of a benzodiazapine, it choses to expel it VIA urine. Since benzodiazapines are a controlled substance, a urine test is effective in detecting these drugs.
Now on to your predicament. It seems, if you are sure that you have never taken Dalmane, that the test was lacking in the area of sensitivety to alike chemicals and may be confusing the chemically similar Zanax with its cousin Dalmane. Tests are never perfect unfortunately. If I were you, my suggestion would be to first, see your doctor that prescribes your zanax, explain to him the situation, and he hopefully be able to write a letter to your employer that properly describes both the reasoning behind a mix up result in test, as well as provide medical proof that you are legally taking a benzodiazapine under a physcian's orders.
I would expect that an employer would be understanding of this situation if sufficent evidence is presented supporting your credibility.
I hope this helped.
Dalmane is used for the relief of insomnia, defined as difficulty falling asleep, waking up frequently at night, or waking up early in the morning. It can be used by people whose insomnia keeps coming back and in those who have poor sleeping habits. It belongs to a class of drugs known as benzodiazepines.
