Red splotch, bite marks? Covering fingers.?

Question:

About an hour ago I began to feel a pain from about the middle of my thumb, moving over and up my pointer finger. Suddenly a large red splash of color began to fill the area. Two marks showed up soon after. It looks like two splinters the best I can describe, but nothing is in them and if I touch them, they sting. The red areas now feel as though I may have burned my hand. I have ice on it but there is constant prickling like needles, especially if I move my fingers [good thing I usually type with one hand anyway, even if it is slower, in case you're wondering]. Does anyone know what it may be?

My bet is that you are having an allergic reaction to some kind of bite (prob. spider)...

It sounds like an allergic reaction, and if it gets worse I would think about the ER option.

you are having a allergic reaction you should go to your local accident and emergency to get it checked out , could it be you have bitten and not realized? or a allergy to something you have eaten , take some piroton , seek medical advice urgently if you develop any itching or swelling in your mouth or lips

Sounds like the type of bite I have on my arm. I asked my OB about it and he thinks I got bit by a spider. Trace around the red area, and see if it gets any bigger. If it gets bigger, but the sensations go away, you're fine. If the sensations don't go away, you should seek medical attention, as it coul have been a more serious bite. This is not from a professional, but one of my buddies knows a thing or two about spiders, and he thinks I might have gotten bitten by a yellow-sac. You should look it up and do a little research to see if the pictures match what you are experiencing.

maybe you strained it somehow. that is what i would think but the best thing go see the doc and make sure.
