The easiest thing to do is run down to the drug store - get some Tums and see if it helps with the pain. If it does then it's heartburn. Try something fast acting like Tums - not Pepcid which is great but takes all day to work.
If it doesn't help - then go to the doc and get checked out. Before you go try to write down some things - or at least get them straight in your mind, it's easy to get confused when they are asking you all the cardiac related questions that they will ask - such as:
Does the pain increase when you take a deep breath?
Does the pain radiate to your back or arms?
What is the nature of the pain - stabbing, aching, crushing, crampy?
On a scale of 1 -10 (10 being the worst pain you have ever had) how does this pain rate?
Do you or have you felt short of breath with this pain?
Has anything helped relieve the pain?
Does anyone in your family have a history of cardiac disease - who? when? what kind?
Have you felt lightheaded or nauseous with the pain?
Have you felt any fluttering in your chest or like your heart has missed a beat?
These are just some of the things they might ask you at the doc's office...if you go they'll probably run an EKG - no pain involved at all and might send you for some blood work...
Hope you feel better soon - go get some Tums, sweetheart!
Good luck!
could be many things. stress, injury, illness, etc, etc. Better 2 b safe than sorry, go see tha Dr.
Its probably most likely.. Heartburn.
Never ever mess with chest pain. And do not let any one ever tell you that you are too young for Cardiac issues. Call your doctor and see him/her today. Playing it safe is better then what could happen.
well it could be heartburn, gas, or a combination of both.BUT just in case, i'd give ur primary care physician a call and just tell them whats going on, better safe than sorry you know?
Go to the hospital! I never had a bum heart either but I did have a heart attack last August! Go NOW!
Did you not wany to go to the Doctor to determine why you are experiencing this pain?
If the pain is not radiating , down your arm , or to your chin ...you could try rest, stress reduction , meditation ,
a hot bath, and old remady is to drink a glass of water with a teaspoon of baking soda stirred into it . This does not taste ral good but it will relieve some symptoms similar to heartburn or indegestion .
