How long until the burns on my hand get better?

silvedene is great, wash it off and have a shower and then reapply when your finished. but i would say you will need help until they are healed. partial thickness (2nd degree) can take around two full weeks to heal.
cold water is the best/only first aid when you burn yourself - 20 minutes under the tap and no less. NEVER ice OR vinegar OR milk OR butter OR green tea OR mustard OR toothpaste OR sunscreen OR semen OR vaseline OR tomatoes OR vanilla extract OR yogurt OR sour cream OR egg white OR lavender oil OR cocoa butter OR salt OR tea bags OR potato OR shaving cream OR olive oil OR baking soda OR banana peel OR petroleum jelly OR whipped cream OR avocado OR bacon grease OR corn starch OR tumeric OR lemon juice OR curd OR pickle juice OR soy sauce OR urine OR talcum powder OR mashed strawberries OR exfoliating scrub OR mayonaise OR peroxide OR bleach- not until the skin is fully healed!

finally if you are really worried go to a hospital that has a burns unit or plastic surgeons. serious sunburn i.e. blisters (and all other burns) should be seen by a burns trained doctor or nurse.
best of luck and God Bless
Continue your dressing changes with silvedene until the eschar it completely gone and then you should use bacitracin. Be sure to keep them moist because if the burns dry out it will only take longer for you to feel better. You should try to do things with your hands even through the pain to avoid contractures. You'll be feeling much better in a week or two.
Same thing happened to me when I was 17, burns on both hands. Silvedene and gauze, had to be wrapped up for weeks and couldn't get my hands wet. It was about 2 weeks that my hands were healed up enough that I could shower myself, take care of myself. Just make sure to keep them layered with bacitracin and covered. I had 2-3rd degree burns on my palms and have no scars 15 yrs later. Take care, and hope you heal well.
