mmmm well options r many. but i think chatting on the net or lunch in ur backyard with friends should not be difficult. get a few kids from the local orphanage for lunch & see how much fun it is. invite someone to watch an old movie, "sound of music" or whatever u like.
It looks like you're learning a valuable lesson in life. How to live with yourself.
I have a track coach like you. She's 46, had her knee completely wrecked and replaced, don't know about kids. This spring she ran the half iron man in Orlando Fl. She's run the Toronto and Boston Marathons, more than once, and a few others. Any ways, work out!! Lift weights with your upper body and core. You can take short walks and swim. Find other people who are bored and do these things with them.
I have been pretty much bed ridden since December 5th with multiple knee surgeries and complications with those surgeries. If I can take 8 months in bed, you can certainly handle a few more weeks. At least you can go swimming and go for walks. You could do something productive with your time like take an online course in something you enjoy. You are not that bad off.
