Why do my knees hurt?

Question:
Any time I cross my legs like when I have on a skirt or if I sit indian style for just a few short moments, my knees start to hurt. I think this may have started almost six or more months ago when I started running a lot on my treadmill but that's been so long ago and I don't run anymore at all, so why are my knees hurting so much only when I cross my legs or sit in a knee crossing positon? I was taking some flaxseed oil internally thinking that it would lube my knee joints or something but that has not worked. Can someone tell me what's going on? Are my bones getting old-ladyish-like too soon?

Answers:
could be an ACL or PCL strain that hasnt healed completley yet.

the ACL and PCL are ligements that run on inside and outside of knee and would cause these pains with the motion you are describing

either way you need to go have them looked at. if left alone it could cause problems much later. you could be building up scar tissue on them.

better safe than sorry
OMG CANCER RUN!
maybe when you bend it, the bones rub together because you're wearing down your cartiladge (spelling?) haha
our body needs calcium especially the bone.. drink milk or intake vit.
How old are you Diamond? Very difficult to just guess at what the problem could be, but if I were you I would pay a visit to the Doctor, and let him decide. x
Maybe you've attained the 'Runner's knee', which basically means softening of the cartilage of the knee cap. Portions of the cartilage may then be under either too much or too little pressure. This may result in cartilage deterioration at the inner part of the knee cap. Pain is usually also felt after sitting for a long period of time with the knees bent. Hope that helped.
I always answer people' knee questions on here as I just had my 13th surgery in March so I am a seasoned knee injury veteran. And I will tell you what I tell everyone else. See an orthopedic (bone and joint) doctor. He/she will discuss your symptoms with you and take xrays and an mri scan. The xrays will probably show nothing, but the mri will give you your answers. The knee is a very complicated joint with 4 main ligaments and tons of cartilage including the meniscus. People on YouQA.com will give you their best guess and say "I had the same thing!" but you will never know without getting images of your knee taken. I am very knowledgeable on the subject, but I wouldn't begin to tell you what is going on without looking at images of your knee. So please, see a doctor and get it checked out.the earlier the better.you do not want to be like me and have 13 surgeries and huge scars...trust me. (I am 25 also and yes, you are too young for knee problems...it sucks!) Good luck to you.
