Can a teenager have a heart attack?

Question:
Can some between, hmm. let's say the ages of 16 - 19 have a heart attack? I am asking for someone with bulimia. Bulimia can make the heart beat irregularly. Could it make a teen with bulimia more susceptible to a heart attack?

Answers:
Yes, anyone CAN have a heart attack

It is unlikely that an otherwise healthy teen would have such an attack, regardless of his or her Bulimia.

Bulimia is a psychological condition where a person believes that by forcing himself to purge, he won't gain weight. In a sense this is true. By not allowing sufficient time for digestion, the bulimic reduces the absorption of nutriments from food. What bulimics do not know is that they do absorb some of the food's calories, but not the good ones!

Proper digestion takes time and the most valuable nutrition happens at the end of the digestive cycle, not the beginning. The effect is the opposite of what they intend. They imagine they are getting just enough food value to survive, but not too much to become fat.

What they actually get is the worst, most fattening, least nutritious part of the food's value.
Fats, carbs, and sugars dissolve much faster than the complex proteins and all important roughage that help maintain proper weight and health.

The bulimic person may indeed destroy his health through the practice. But a teen isn't very likely to suffer a heart attack because of it. Vomiting requires Strength. If a person is strong enough to vomit regularly, he is probably strong and healthy enough to not be at much extra risk of heart failure.

Bulimics have a psychological disorder, not a physical one. They need psychological help. If they do not get it, they can eventualy hurt their physical health.

Yes you can have a heart attack at any age but, in a person with bulimia the heart is not the only thing I would be worrying about, I would really be worried about the liver and kidneys shutting down from malnutrition.

Your friend really needs to seek professional help before it's too late.
yes.
Yes, anyone at any age can have a heart attack.
Unfortunately it is becoming common for young teens to have a heart attack due to being over weight or drug taking behaviour.

However with people who have a eating disorder, the body is starved of vital nutrients, which cause low levels of potassium which can lead to arrhythmia of the heart, eventually cardiac arrest.
