Im having a lot of pain around my knee lately?

Question:
is it from sitting at the computer too long ..btw i smoke..i also walk each day.

Answers:
Try fish oil, flax seed oil and borage oil. 1/2..every day until you feel better. About a month then just 1 / day...When I don't, my knee's hurt and I can hear cracking or rubbing together..Cheaper than a doctore---better for you...
That could be anything. Is your knee getting really sore after bending it too long? Does it get stuck and painful in one position after awhile?

I started having symptoms like that in the 6th grade, but NO doctor believed me because I was "too young" to be experiencing knee problems, (even though I participated in cheerleading, soccer, and field hockey - all of which can cause knee probelms). When I finally got a doctor who took me seriously they referred me to an orthopedic surgeon. The orthopod found that I had what is known as a PLICA - it's an extra band of tissue inside you knee. Due to the overgrowth of that tissue when you bend the knee to sit or walk/run the tissue pinches and becomes inflammed and painful. My orthopedist put me through physical therapy to see if it would help, and when it didn't I had surgery 2 years ago as a junior in high school. When he cut the extra tissue off he found that the overgrowth and inflammation had actually been rubbing on my meniscus causing it to fray. It's been a little over 2 years since the surgery and I still experience problems, the doctor has done an MRI, and is talking about possible exploratory surgery.

I'm not saying this is exactly what you have or that you'll need surgery. I recommend getting in with your general practitioner, going over your symptoms, and getting a referral to perhaps an orthopedic surgeon. If you catch it early enough physical therapy may help you, if you let it go you could end up as bad as I did. My orthopedist actually told me that if my doctor had taken me seriously from the beginning in the 6th grade instead of saying "you're too young for knee problems" it may have saved me from needing surgery, and saved me from a fraying meniscus.

Hope this helps. Good Luck. :-)
Dont know mate. But hope it gets better soon. Get him indoors to massage it for you!
Sounds like you have either patellofemoral syndrome or chondromalacia patellae. The symptoms you describe actually has a name...its called the theater sign b/c people with the disorders mentioned above have pain when sitting for 2 hrs or more in the same position(about how long a movie would be). You should go see an orthopedic doctor to examine your knees and then go through physical therapy to strengthen the muscles in your hamstring, hip, and butt to take some of the stress off of your knees/
Probably a bit of arthritis setting in...It comes to all of us at some point. (smile)

Oh! I forgot to say...Rub in 'Heatol Chinese Balm' It works wonders.
