Is it normal for your back to hurt after work/standing for periods of time?

Question:
I work in a retail store 5-8 hours a day. I do some heavy lifting now and then but even on really slow days where I hardly do anything, I'll get home and my back will hurt around the mid-section. It'll get sore even when I just stand for a long while. It's been like this for almost a year now. Is this normal?

Answers:
You might want to see a doctor!
I don't know whether it is normal, but I used to experience the same thing working retail all day.
It is common but not normal. Do not said that you hardly do anything; your boss may watching this. Ha, ha. Watch posture and go get some massages will take care of it.
It's very common but it means something is wrong. Could be your shoes - cheap shoes = back pain every day of the week. Make sure you wear shoes that have proper support. You can also buy inserts to support your arch and align your heel at your local CVS or Walgreens. Make sure to stretch, stand straight, sit straight when on the computer (don't round shoulders), and sleep on your back. Small changes in our daily lives can make a huge difference in back health. If the pain persists try some deep tissue massage or see a physical therapist or chiropractor.
