Does anyone know what to do about achy shoulders?

Question:
I work cleaning a campground and I am 56yrs old. My shoulders are killing me at night and I can't sleep. Doctor gives me stuff like muscle relaxers and that just does not take away the pain and I don't like using them either. Home remedies maybe?

Have you been to physical therapy or to a chiropractor? Each can do wonders!! I have achy shoulders too from poor posture, and the therapist has told me to "shrug" my shoulders as hard as I can toward my ears for 3 seconds, then release & relax. Repeat. Another exercise is to stand with your back to a flat wall, press your shoulders and lower back hard against the wall, tucking in your abdominal wall muscles. Hold for 3 seconds. Repeat. For each exercise, increase the time to 5 seconds or more as you build stamina. I'm up to 7 seconds -- we can do this together!! These exercises help to release the toxins that have built up in the muscles. Also drink LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of water, which will wash the toxins out of the body. Try it -- it's working for me!! Let me know how it works for you. :)

Take calcium, vitamin D, and magnesium supplements. Stretch often, and drink lot's of water. If it's a joint problem you could use glucosamine with chondroitin. It will take a couple months for you to feel an effect, but it does help.
Get a deep tissue massage to work out the kinks and knots. Also try soaking in a hot tub or relaxing in a steam bath.
