I'm having a laparotomy 2moz has any one?
Question:
only reason im asking is that i have got my taekwondo grading on sat and im not sure how having this opperation will affect me?
Answers:
yes i had one and you wont feel like doing taekwondo on saturday x there will be two cuts one in navel and one in your side. and there will be wind. and thats what hurts the most apart from that you will feel a bit fragile good luck x
I had a laparotomy to remove my gall bladder and appendix. It involved cutting from the breast bone down to the lower abdomen, a really long incision.I was in hospital for 5 days and was very restri cted in movement when I came out. It is not all that painful, but tender and uncomfortable. I could not drive for nearly a month .I would think you will not be well enough for your grading on Saturday and will have to wait for the next time round. A lot of operations that involved laparotomy are now carried out by keyhole surgery which is far less invasive ,but these would not be called a laparotomy .Hope you get on OK though .
Yes me .
You will be in no fit state to do much saturday.
They blow your tummy full of air so they can see the tubes better which takes days to disperse i found that really uncomfortable.
The tiny cuts they make arnt to bad .
Also it depends on how you react to anesthetic.
Good luck 2moz.
My wife had one she was fine OK. She had 3 key holes 2 in the side and 1 in her bellybutton just take it easy for a while, I would postpone the taekwondo if pos you must be able to do that if they know the reason?
Do you mean laparoscopy or laporotomy. There is a big difference.
Laparotomy means a big incision up and down the length of your abdomen and you will still be in hospital on saturday. It also hurts a lot.
Laparoscopy means 3-4 small holes in your abdomen and can be done as a day case. If it is a diagnostic laparoscopy then you may be okay for saturday but I don't think you'll be your best.
