I woke up two days ago, & my right index finger hurt like a...well, it just hurt. What do you think is wrong?
Question:
Could this be my hand's way of getting back at me for clenching my fists at night and lying on my arms? Or perhaps all that knuckle-cracking fun is finally catching up to me?
None of my other fingers hurt, just the one, and the pain centers around the biggest joint in the finger, and a little around the base of it. It doesn't really hurt if I bend it, unless I'm flexing the muscle hard. It hurts more when I straighten it out or bend it back.
If you have no idea what has caused this, how about a way to get it to stop hurting for a while?
Plus, has anything weird like this ever happened to you, like waking up and something random just hurting when you haven't done anything blatant to it?
Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

I have woken up often with random pain before - my arms heavy and stinging, the balls of my feet extremely sore to walk on, hands and fingers sore. You may have dislocate your finger tossing and turning in your sleep... that's my best bet. It sounds really stupid but it isn't unheard of. I think the best thing to do is go to the doctor. That's kind of a "duh!" thing but I think you should really have that checked out...
As for stopping the pain for a while... elevate it and put some ice on it. It'll hurt at first but that's what I was told to do for my sprained ankle. I know your ankle isn't sprained but hey, that's all I've got. :)
If it doesent go away.then see a doctor...tho it's probably nothing i've had 5 days worth of pain in my arms then it goes away. or me knees...fingers
